Woman Work by Maya Angelou

Woman Work by Maya Angelou

I’ve got the children to tend

The clothes to mend

The floor to mop

The food to shop

Then the chicken to fry

The baby to dry

I got company to feed

The garden to weed

I’ve got shirts to press

The tots to dress

The can to be cut

I gotta clean up this hut

Then see about the sick

And the cotton to pick.

Shine on me, sunshine

Rain on me, rain

Fall softly, dewdrops

And cool my brow again.

Storm, blow me from here

With your fiercest wind

Let me float across the sky

‘Til I can rest again.

Fall gently, snowflakes

Cover me with white

Cold icy kisses and

Let me rest tonight.

Sun, rain, curving sky

Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone

Star shine, moon glow

You’re all that I can call my own.

As I Grew Older by Langston Hughes

As I Grew Older by Langston Hughes

It was a long time ago.

I have almost forgotten my dream.

But it was there then,

In front of me,

Bright like a sun—

My dream.

And then the wall rose,

Rose slowly,

Slowly,

Between me and my dream.

Rose until it touched the sky—

The wall.

Shadow.

I am black.

I lie down in the shadow.

No longer the light of my dream before me,

Above me.

Only the thick wall.

Only the shadow.

My hands!

My dark hands!

Break through the wall!

Find my dream!

Help me to shatter this darkness,

To smash this night,

To break this shadow

Into a thousand lights of sun,

Into a thousand whirling dreams

Of sun!

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim

Because it was grassy and wanted wear,

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

5 Reasons to Follow/Love My Blog

1. I’m insanely optimistic for my age

Have you ever looked at the High School Drug use statistics and lose that last seed of hope you had for the future generation(s) of America? Well yeah let me and my blog give you some of it back.

2.I’m a decent writer

Yes, thanks to my 10th grade American education I am able to write a full length run-on sentence without using the word ‘and’.tumblr_mho7b4J0BK1renc44o1_500

3.I’m naturally weird and it shows through my writing

If you haven’t caught on yet, I’m able to connect a pineapple to a rabbit. If you give me a stick I’ll turn it into a sword. My favorite drink is warm cranberry juice and my dream Saturday is watching ABC Family with my best friend all day.

4. I make quite a few Tv references

Yes this includes (but not limited to) Doctor Who, Supernatural, Sherlock, Once Upon a Time, Teen Wolf, Star Wars…but not Hannibal I have no idea what that is.

The Types of Teachers You Usually Get in High School

Side note;Hello. School starts in a couple of weeks and I read the news about teachers complaining about getting underpaid. So from these two start offs I came up with The Types of Teachers You Usually Get in High School . This all based off of my point of view, but when school starts I’ll just take a poll on teachers from the students and update this post…

Some are lazy, passionate,or just OCD driven. Yep, you guested it we’re talking about teachers. Thanks to today’s school system teachers aren’t the ones who can make you or beak you. It’s you who does the making and/or breaking now. So now and days you can’t come home with that report card saying that your teacher hates you. Thanks America for taking away our one excuse. But anyways here are the 3 types of teachers that I have been stuck with multiple times.

1)The Power Struggle

shutterstock_16194385_crop380wGoodness! Just thinking about this one makes me irritated. The Power Struggle spends more time trying to show that she/he has power over us than she/he does teaching We don’t care, if that one kid walked in late. Talk to him after class! The rest of us don’t want to hear a lecture on how walking in late is a distraction to the class because by then you’re being an even bigger distraction.

Average Class Grade: C

Usually: English Teachers

2)Mr./Mrs.Passionate

WHAT-YOU-PASSIONATE-ABOUTThese are the teachers that really get to you and inspire you to be a better student. They talk about how much they love a certain subject. And about great life can be if you just do what you love. They make the world seem possible in every single way. Seriously we need more teachers like Mr./Mrs.Passionate.

Average Class Grade: B+/A+

Usually: Science and Math Teachers

3)Mr./Mrs.Cool

images (26)Yes, every kid who isn’t there wishes that they were. This is the teacher who lets you on your phone and talk to your friends after you finish your work. The teachers who throw class parties just cause its the end of the semester. The ones who incorporates watching Hunger Games into the lesson plan. Every kid needs a class with a cool teacher just to unwind and learn at the same time.

Average Class Grade: C+/B

Usually: Science Teachers
